Let the champagne find you.

San Francisco San Francisco San Francisco San Francisco

Say you’re in San Francisco, it’s a Wednesday, and you feel like having champagne.  And you’re broke, or you’re not broke, but it’s not in your blood to drop $65 on a bottle of sparkling wine in a so-so restaurant.  And maybe you’re not even all that hungry. It’s 3 o’clock, and long before any kind of dinner planning happens, you are thinking that plush bed in the Fairmont on Nob Hill deserves a midday nap. From you.

I understand completely.

That’s why it’s so nice to share with you what we’ve learned over the past 4 years…

San Francisco

Sometimes champagne just happens.

It’s the sound of guitar music escaping out the door of a small wine merchant, who’s willing to pour you a glass on the side.

And that is why it’s important to wander. Wherever you are.

The best glasses of champagne are enjoyed that way.  Trust me.

The Chandon Report

Worn Wall in Athens

I’m not sure. I have a bit of a headache this morning. I think it’s the kind of bottle that splits better 4 or 6 ways (for a sip) than two (for an evening). We also ran out to pick up Thai food from Thai Away Home, which we hoovered (no better word for it) and which wasn’t really all that good. Also, I insisted we flip incessantly between So You Think You Can Dance Canada and America’s Next Top Model, neither of which I am very proud to admit and neither of which lay the foundation for very meaningful together time. I don’t know. I suppose the evening was destined for a downward trend after all the excitement of picking up my dress. Maybe it’s the headache? Maybe I miss Nigel Lithgow? Whatever the reason, these red shutters in Athens seem to cheer me up.

PS: For those who asked, this is solo-dancing:

The best part is the man kneeling to the right, clapping her along.

Today. Today. Today.

Today, my mom and I go pick up my dress. I have to admit- in all my one-day of dress shopping – I was absoltuley taken by this little store on West Broadway called Frocks. Sure, it might have only had six dresses to choose from (great for me), but they were well-chosen, not fussy and you got to lounge about deciding which one you liked best while chewing on red vines from dainty glass jars. I liked two. I bought one. It all felt rather pleasant. I only wish I had a polaroid camera.

After dress pick-up, it’s home for champagne because, afterall, it’s a Wednesday and what’s a Wednesday without a little something special? Tonight our trusty Costco wine fridge (which Ash keeps unplugging because he has a dear, energy conscious heart) holds a Californian sparkler called Chandon. I will report back on how it tastes tomorrow.
