Every oppprtunity to drink a mimosa was seized.

The palace was oddly devoid of people, which made it easy to find pool-chairs and make Ash play fun games like Papparrazi/beach vacation.

I bought a funny greeen hat that made me feel like doing touristy things, such as writing love notes in the sand with my toe.

I formed a special bond with the ladies who blow their whistle while pouring tequilla down your throat.

Ashleah got very tan and hunky.

I couldn’t stop looking at the colours.

More colours.

I fell in love with a pier.

I got wrapped up in very important business.

And yes, I am happy to report, we danced on speakers.

All in all, the whole trip felt like this. That’s what being married to Ash feels like too.

And this is an entry like no other…turn up your volume.

Earlier this week, Anna Spiro of Absolutely Beautiful Things, featured a collection of outdoor showers, which made it very hard for Ash to say no when I insisted I just had to share this photo of him in all his fresh-air bathing glory. After all, this is the epitome of freshness. A world away from townhouses and office buildings. A 1.5 hour drive to calm. The shower is on the edge of the Coquihalla River. Let’s pretend Ash turns left to let the water run down his back. Here’s what he’d see:

I only wish I had an audio clip for you. Before we left for our adventure weekend, I had the crazy idea that I needed to cleanse. I was ready to commit to a four-day sentence of drinking lemon juice with cayenne and maple syrup (I don’t know where I get these ideas). But two, simple days of breath, words and thoughts carried silently away on the back of a constant river and I was stilled. Almost instantly.

Good morning. I found this piece of collage inspiration on Elements of Style – and I thought it was the perfect way to begin this week’s Champagne Wednesday (well, actually a mimosa is the perfect way, but we’ll just pretend). Perfect, especially today, as Ash and I pour over travel sites trying to decide where we should go on our honeymoon. It will be November. Too chilly for our love of Europe, where we shivered through the last two early springs. Too late for the mindlessness of Cancun, where we’re sure to face Hurricane season. Travel is a privilege. Neither of us take the decision or the weight of such a gift very lightly. I see many more nights in bed with dueling laptops until we decide.

PPS: The joys and pathways of blogging never end. Erin has an etsy shop where she sells the most beautiful vintage wallpapers. I like her idea for framing them above a bed. Brilliant.

A promise is a promise. So, I woke up promptly at 6:15am and announced, “it’s time!” because today is the day Ash promised he’d finally tell me where we’re going this weekend. Turns out we’re flying to a little southern town called…..

San Francisco!

I am starting to think this whole branding-our-lives-with-champagne-thing was a really good idea. True, I snubbed my Can-lit loving nose at The Secret, but then I made a simple champagne wish and next thing you know, I’m off to the Fairmont San Francisco on Nob Hill.

This means I will happily be out of blog’s reach this weekend. We’ll see how many glasses of champagne we can fit in before Tuesday!
